I have already taken it out and put it back in with the new gear. They made two when they made it but did not burn the hole in the center because they wanted to see how this one lasted. It was just a guess and estimate burning the hole. The machinist wanted to wait to see how this one held up.

There is no dealer level price on the gears. They are not available at any cost. You have to buy the whole transmission. About $1450 list and they would give me a 25% discount. That's why I had the gear built.

You need to take it apart to make sure it is the gear. There are some bushings on the linkages in there too. If you want to send it to me, I can get a gear cut and install it for about $300. It's kinda a gamble right not though. I have not used mine enough to see how it is going to last. Only time will tell.

You could also find a good local machine shop and see if they could cut a gear. Make sure they use self lubricating plastic for the bushing. No one has a mold other than Bosch so the gear has to be hand made one tooth at a time. Its an engineering shame for a $1400 transmission to depend on a $10 plastic gear -- that you can't buy. The whole wiper setup is a joke. The transmissions purpose is to wipe the windshield more completely. Honda does the same thing without a transmission. The 210 E-Class cars use a transmission with only 1 wiper blade. Now that REALLY is a joke. Basic things like windshield wipers should be simple and reliable. Not complicated and troublesome. ARE YOU LISTENING MERCEDES! I doubt it.
