I worked at a Chevy dealership in 69. They brought in two 427 Camaros. They probably had to put two set of rear tires on the cars before they sold them because every salesman, mechanic and their cousins were taking them out for a spin whenever they got the chance.
Oddly enough, one of the cars that attracted the most attention was a top of line wagon (Brookwood?) because it was the first Chevrolet anyone had seen with a price tag over $5k.
Browsing a few weeks ago I saw some pictures of a twin turbo 440. One turbo on each front corner of the motor. Aesthetically quite pleasing.
