Hard to say what the original problem was, but if the mechanical fuel mixture was adjusted, and that was NOT the source of the original problem, then that is why it's not running now. For instance, if fuel was leaking past the plunger o-ring in a warm engine, evaporating and causing a slightly over-rich mixture, then adjusting the airflow meter to compensate would probably leave the mixture too lean to fire if the leak stopped.
The adjustment performed is unlikely to be needed unless to calibrate after a repair of the fuel distributor or airflow meter.
