I had read something similar to that.

But then I read in the Benz CD manual where the sensor is supposed to go into cars from production date 02/86 and on. For cars that did not come equipped with the air temperature sensor, the manual states that one MUST be retrofitted (it even gives directions on where to find the wiring for it).

It is all sort of confusing.
