But then I read in the Benz CD manual where the sensor is supposed to go into cars from production date 02/86 and on. For cars that did not come equipped with the air temperature sensor, the manual states that one MUST be retrofitted (it even gives directions on where to find the wiring for it).

It is all sort of confusing.
OK...bump.

I would like any member who owns a 1989 vintage E series Benz, with the M103 engine, to check and see if yours has the air temperature sensor (or air intake pressure sensor) attached to the intake cowl.

I am sorry that the pics that I posted are so tiny, but the sensor is located by the air intake cowl, right before the cowl goes into the air cleaner housing.

For ease of reference, and clarity, I have attached a link to the MB Repair CD. The sensor is item No.: B17/2.

Your help will be greatly appreciated.

PS: Also read the notes that state that in pre-1986 vehicles, the sensor MUST BE retrofitted.

Thanks in advanced.
