The level of volume increase is adjustable. It is bad when out of adjustment but if you set it for a slight change only, it is a positive feature. Becker calls this feature GAL in my Traffic Pro radio and in my car it is very easy to tell when the GAL / volume accelerator is set too fast, because my eardrums want to pop at 25 miles per hour when it is turned up too much. For my radio, lower number means less acceleration, 0 means none.

My car is an 84 - I do not think the speedline is behind the radio, that's why this guy was fishing behind the cluster. I think I am in good shape with the cluster coming my way, the car will be on the road by Friday.
