1980 300D Vacuum Diagram

My sincere thanks to whoever posted the vacuum diagram … “ Figure 423 ”

Q – Where did this come from ?

The diagram matches my 300D perfectly and the “( California version only ) ” stipulation on the diagram certainly makes sense here in No. CA for this car does have an EGR.

So as soon as I could, I went out and checked the vacuum lines and found that the green and red lines were reversed from what the diagram indicates which should clearly make a difference. I also found that I do have the 2nd restricted orifice [ No. “63” on diagram ]. I will test drive later today [Sunday].

Tomorrow [ Monday ] I will be at my mechanic’s shop where we will be flushing the “crud” out of the fuel tank to solve the repeated contamination of the preFuel filter. I also hope to have my new vacuum tester which together with the sections of hard vacuum line I should be able to monitor the vacuum at the various points while driving under load. I still think that I have internal trannie problems… but I’m determined to thoroughly test the vacuum control system before I go down that path.

Thanks again “orthotomeo… Planning advegturer ”,
