New USed 1993 300te maintenance
HI, I just got a used 1993 300te with 117000 miles (red and sassy) I don't know all the history but due to some stalling (after changing the 02 sensor which seemed to have stoped the check engine light from going on) NO matter what I am going to change the 1) spark plugs and 2) spark plug wires (3 wire type/ any thoughts on how to determine or if it matters which type (the 90 bend end or the flexible end wires are corrrect?- I have no idea if the right ones are currenly in the car although from the records I have it appears that the car was services by a mercedes knowlegable repair shop since 90000 miles to the time I bought it at 117000 miles. I also intend to change the 3) gas filter and 4) air filter. (any trade offs with the Mann filter vs K&N) and finally and other maintences I should do just to know when it was done (The auto trans was just rebuilt so I don't think that changing its fluid is necessary) 5) Brake fluid? 6) Radiator fluid?, 7) Power Steering Fluid? IF so to any of these any mercedes specific types?, And lastly at this milage can I change to 8) fully synthetic Mobile 1 and if so what weight (I live in California near Salinas so I generally am dealing with pretty temperate temperature ranges). Also thanks to Arthur Dalton re suggestion to chack all the codes especially on pin 8 - am working on finalizing my handy dandy radio shack parts device today. That might reveal who knows what else since the car still has some stalling going on after the 02 sensor was changed.
