Actually the ECO-TEC is quite a nice engine for performance. I know of several that are used at Bonneville for 200mph + runs. Also I have seen some nice Solstices running around with "tricked out" ECOs.

I've never seen a 3800 need an intake. I have seen the throttle plate gum up and cause the pedal to stick, usually takes me around 20 minutes to fully clean like new.
