I think its the injector . . .
I couldn't find any diesel purge locally, so I purged it with soybean oil.
While running it, I noticed that injector #1 was loose! I went to pull the steel supply line, and turning that nut turned the entire injector. Simple, I thought, and I pulled the line, put the 27mm deep on the injector and tightened it down, and reconnected the supply line.
The knocking was much quieter at idle, though still somewhat dectable, but uneven. With greater revs, it got louder and more frequent.
I pulled over and cracked the line going to that injector, and sure enough the knocking stopped. Even with greater RPM's, no knocking. Reconnected that line and the knocking and eneven idle returned.
The question now, can I count on it being the injector? I figure I'll order new bosio nozzles now and drop 'em in, but I don't want to spend the money and then discover I had another issue. You folks think this is enough evidence to proceed or is there some more diagnostic work to be done here?
Thanks,
Eric
