If you buy an Optima (the reverse terminal one works nicely), you don't need to use the vent tube. Any other battery, make sure you hook up the vent tube. Very simple to replace yourself as Ali indicates, although you will need to resynchronize the windows, headrest and reset the radio code, all easy assuming you have the code.
