Check the vacuum going to the tranny. This is done very easily with a MiteyVac. I have various vacuum leaks and my car shifted like crap. Through the course of fixing the leaks, my car shifts smooth as a cat's ass

This maybe your problem as well, it's sooo easy to identify vacuum leaks with the MiteyVac, it's time well spent.
