My past 7 months of driving has shown a 30% happier driver with synthetic. 
It makes it run smoother, much better in the cold, and protects the tranny components better as it can stand up to more heat and has better properties than dino fluid.
I vote synthetic, in fact, I'm changing our '83 (in sig) over to synthetic this friday.
