The 92 was the last year of the "old" pre TDI 1.6L turbo engine.
After that they went to the TDI installed in a (for the US and Canada) made in Mexico body. Horrid problems with body and electronics quality from 1993 to 1995.
Avoid 93-95 Jettas.... bad news.
