Yes it is a 1997 MY.

The controller part number is "A026 545 96 32"

I can get hold of a TCM from a W210 E280... with the part number of "019 545 78 32"...

I don't know if I can use the same TCM as the E280, however its all irrelevant if they can't ever be used on another car anyway.
