That's the problem with keeping a gun in the car. It's real easy to make a mistake and catch a charge. Guy is yelling at you and you pull a gun, he goes back to the car, dials 911 and says "some guy is waiving a pistol around" next thing you know you're face down on the side of the road.

Don't have the proper permit, congratulations, you just got a CCW and are now a felon.

I've had a couple guns but if they are in my car they are locked, unloaded and inaccessible.

Actually I won't carry anything bigger than my Case Peanut. Technically speaking a knife over 3in (3.5?) in your pocket is a CCW charge. I'm more afraid of the cops than the robbers. A robber might take my wallet, a cop can take my career.
