Hi,

I run OZ futura 3 piece wheels, 8.5j all round on my Benz. I believe the benefit of three piece rims is that if the rim becomes buckled or dented, the likelyhood is that the outer 2 halves will be the ones damaged, so that replacement is less costly than a whole new wheel. Its also possible to alter the offset and widths of the wheel, by using different outer halves.

Forging something stretches and aligns the 'grain' of the metal, making it much stronger than normal casting or machining.
