The CAN BUS is the computer management system ubder the hood that links stuff like ASR(ESP on some models), ADS, ABS, Throttle Body Actuators, SRS, safety systems, and all of those other little goodies. You can check the error codes from under the hood by using that thirty-something pin connector under the hood.

Other than that I think you just about have all of the nails hit on the head. Best of luck to you in your quest to make an old school V12.
