Yes, esm6869 is right. The full array of parking lights will operate whether the ignition switch is on or off. On my car, with the ignition off and the full array of parkings lights on (one click to the right on the rotary switch) the buzzer also sounds.

The "lights-one-side-only" (two) positions to the left on the rotary switch only work when the ignition is off. I guess that prevents you from driving down the street that way!
