You might want to let us know what year and model car you have.

And, if you scoured the site just a little, you may have checked with the parts store on this site (fastlane) and discovered the price of your catalytic converter, if you were to buy it here.

For example: a converter for an 88 420 will cost you less than $600, where as a converter for a 94 E420 will run you well over $700.

If you are really low on funds, I would suggest a junk yard.
