What is a lambda tower?

The steel ball is covering the 3mm allen adjust for the mixture. The plugs are new. the O2 sensor works fine somedays. It modulates the mixture and the idle is good. Somedays (most days) it is shaky and smoky. The O2 signal is fluxuating between 0.8 and 0.1. I can hear the engine actually change slightly as I see the voltage move. A bad O2 wouldnt do that (I.M.O.)

I have previously inspected both 10 amp fuses in the OVP, and they are well, and no corrosion at fuse holder.

Anything else to check? Maybe bad computer? Bad Fuel Distributor? Bad Injector? Cold Start Valve?
