I've tried 10W-40 dino oil, 0W-40 Mobil1, the ATF that was there initially, and Red Line MTL in my 240D tranny and I'd say the MTL performs at least as good if not better than the others. The MTL is what I've stuck with and have been using it for the past 2 years. Others have had excellent results with it too. My 1-to-2 shift is still a bit unsmooth if I do it quick and the tranny is still cold, but it's not the fluid's fault and it's probably a worn synchro. The trick for me is to shift slower until the tranny warms up.
