I'm looking at a '93 Mercedes 190e 2.3 automatic, 170kmi fully documented service history, and it has an issue with the transmission.
It runs and drives fine, but as soon as you take off in Drive, it will immediately shift from 2nd to 3rd then even quicker to 4th...in other words- as soon as you take off it goes through all the gears within a matter of seconds, leaving no time to gain any speed.
BUT- if you "shift" the car with the gear selector, it drives fine.

One problem that may be associated with this is- the kickdown switch doesn't work.

Does anyone know what could be wrong?
