"Korean" Mercedes W124 Ssangyong Chairman

I saw in a book "Cars of the World" today (Borders in Roseville Calif) that this car exists and you can buy a new one in Korea right now, it looks like a W124 clone from the front and supposedly has MB W124 bits on it.

And, Mercedes either is involved with this, or has no objection to it.
Does anyone know if that company is actually some kind of a 3rd world knockoff of Mercedes- I have heard that it was.

Does anyone know anything about this Ssangyong outfit, I think I heard something about their being active in Malaysia also

I wonder if it would be as sturdy and as reliable as a "real" W124 Mercedes?

The book ALSO pictured MANY and I mean MANY cars being produced in India and China. Gonna be real interesting what comes of that. They might be able to undercut the Koreans (who undercut the Japanese)

Chinese curse "May you live in interesting times"
