If you mean a steel skid plate, under the oil pan, they are a wise investment for your car.
Mine is a W126, and the car is lowered, so the car cried out for that protection.; and the part is not expensive, I think it cost $135 as an OEM Mercedes Benz part, (that was what it cost in 1995, according to the Indept. MBZ shop in Orange County, that installed it, per my records on the car)
Absolutely worth it, for the W124 too, just be like having worthwhile insurance on the car.
Don't think twice. Have one put on right away. Peace of mind on the cheap
