What the CARFAX story tells...
Per CARFAX, this one originally sold to someone in West Palm Beach Florida, where someone in that ultra rich area kept it till 2003, with 5,000 miles on it (driving it about 750 miles a year)
Then it got traded in, most likely to a Mercedes dealer, and next shows up at the Southeast (Florida, auto auction)
Here is where it gets interesting. The Mercedes dealers get first crack in cherry picking the really good ones that come in.
Apparently Beverly Hills Mercedes Benz - a white glolve Mercedes dealer if ever there was one (I have been there), thought well enough of this example, to send someone all the way from California to Florida to bid and buy this car with an eye to reselling it,
which, looking at CARFAX, they did, and quickly "flipped" it, as a Certified pre-owned Starmarked car, which suggests they had the utmost confidence in the car, to this present News York buyer, who claimed he indeed did buy it at B.H. Mercedes, and who now seeks to sell it.
It looks to me like the CARFAX checks out and shows the car as HUGELY desireable to seekers of a W124, rather than being over the top, it comes pretty close to being the "holy grail" as far as getting a good W124 cabrio.
I would add the pictures taken by the seller "literally" point out the slight cosmetic flaws on the body and the crack on the seat plastic.
Were I in the market, all the ebay horror wtories notwithstanding, I have seen enough here that I would bid with confidence, to WIN this one.
