I saw it on the news, and it was a BIG bike, maybe a big Harley, and the 68 year old lady in the Chrysler LHS apparently made a left turn in front of him and he hit the car and ate the windshield, and went down...
Pennsylvania is a state withouot a helmet law, and he was riding without one, as was his legal right, but, wow....
I have a friend with a new HD Lowrider, but she has been riding an 883 before that for many years, and is real experienced and a great rider, but she wears leathers,and a beanie helmet because California has a helmet law, which she hates. (As does every HD owner I have)
Yet when stuff like this goes down, I cringe and affirm my belief that helmet laws really save lives and injuries, like seat belt laws do...(even though exceptions are always cited "he lived cause he was thrown free of the wreck" etc.
My friend's daughter said, about a week ago, three buddies who just got out of the service, and they all bought new Japanese rice rocket bikes, and were going down the road, all three friends together, doing 80-100 mph, and pulling wheelies, when the light on the Blvd. changed to red, two of them noticed and stopped in time, the third didn't, and blew the light at 100 mph and T boned a car in the intersection, and was killed instantly, severed body parts in the street, helmet law didn't help (this was in the Bay Area, Calif.) They were all 22 years old.....
Tragic waste of life, so sad
