If you have enough refrigerant to cycle the clutch as it seems to be doing, you should not defeat it as you could inadvertently overcharge the system.

Best if you get a set of gauges so that you can monitor the high and low side pressures and charge through the gauge.

Also as noted, run the air full blast with the windows open. This will cause the refrigerant to circulate at its highest rate including drawing new refrigerant from the low-side service port.
