I've been messin with auto a/c systems since I was about 12 years old and as like everything else Ive learned it all myself!
Every response here is is great and moslty true but each end every situation has its own applications!

I didnt knotice if anyone mentioned the sight glass on the filter/dryer?
I just gave my SDL a drink of R-12 last week cause I noticed it would warm up slightly at an idle!..ITS BEEN OVER 100 HERE FOR WEEKS..
It took one can and its cooling perfeclty!

I HAVE owned a manifold set for at least 20 years now and I usually only montitor the "suction" (LOW SIDE) when filling unless I think there may be a problem to look for.
I got certified about 3 years ago and buy R-12 on ebay when I need it!

DONT EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THE DUPONT PATENT CONSPIRACY regarding R-12......."google it" sometime just for some interesting reading!
