107 degree heat + 4 ppl in the car + 1.5 hr trip = dead blower motor

Yep, this was almost worse then having engine failure. On the way to an SCCA banquet/awards ceremony I decided to take the Mercedes running on WVO to show my fellow gear heads. I had my date, and another couple in the car. The 300D turbo was running flawlessly and we were having a good time driving through the concrete jungle that is Phoenix (probably WAY hotter then 107 on the roadway) toward the banquet site.

Just as I entered the freeway I turned the climate control fan from auto to full since the back seat passengers were complaining a bit. It began to cool the cabin down nicely and everyone was happy. Suddenly... without any warning or weird noises, air stopped coming out of the vents all together.

Brief history on the HVAC system of this car:

- New A/C condensor
- New belt
- New dryer
- New R12 freon
- New blower motor brushes
- Checked and tested by an authorized Mercedes technician last week (you would have all this done if you lived in the desert too).

Sooo... I'm hiding at my parent's house with 150 miles of desert to cross to get back to my house. I found instructions on how to remove the blower motor and I will check all fuses... but does anyone have any insight on what else to look for?

Thanks!
