C43 is either 98/99 or 2000. If it's a 98, I'd be leery as many 98 722.6's live a short life.
The best thing to do is get the car hooked to an SDS and check trans adaptation values and trans codes. That will tell you right off how well the trans is working. Then, if it's fine, read fuel trim adaptation values to see if you've got a bad Air Mass Meter (AMM) and if the AMM is going south, it might not be to the point where it would set the CEL, but you can see the decline in the values and feel the performance difference.
If fuel trim adaptation is fine, then look for misfires and other potential performance killers.
