On the music scene, we were still listening to AM radio and it was quite common to have a top tune be an INSTRUMENTAL, of all things.. thus the Green Onions .. and guess what you were doing when you heard that tune ?? .. yup, driving your car ... your COOL car that you were in Love with.
Other instumentals from that era that are now Classics : Take Five by Brubeck , Rumble by Link Ray , Wipe Out - Safaries , Venture stuff, etc... there were Tons of them... a different world, for sure,
Again , a good choice..
