Alex,

I don't think the indicated boost you are getting is abnormal. I remember after installing my boost gauge, I measured around 7.5 psi at 4000 rpm in 3rd gear. At what RPM did you get 8-9psi? Just remember, you have to add more fuel or the added boost will do nothing.
