regarding the flywheel.

unless it is different on a 124 most flywheels are neutrally balanced. some are not. be sure to mark your flywheel and your crank before removing the flywheel.. upon removal have it checked for neutrality. if it is neutral you need to make the flywheel you install neutral as well if it is not. if your engine has a non neutrally balanced flywheel your new flywheel must be balanced to match as noted above. the proceedure is explained in the fsm.

i have had both neutrally balanced flywheels and non neutral in my experience, which is all with 123 cars. the 124s may be the same or different, i dont know.
