was at the local MB dealer today, and saw an old acquaintance now working as a service writer. Here's the cost breakdown for the head gasket:
Head gasket r&r: 25 hours: $2100 labor, $ 660 parts = $2760
Chain (1.7 hours w/ head removed): $143 labor, $440 parts= $583
Grand total: $3,343 (maybe I should say, "3 Grand Total"
)
Working backwards, their hourly labor rate is $84! Anybody got any Vaseline?
