The skid plate is less than 17x17 inches in size; it's not a "cover" like I've read the later 603 engines have. I doubt there will be any difference in noise level but I'll try to notice.
By the way, the skid plate has a pair of captive nuts at the front. Anyone know if they have anything to do with attaching the transmission cooler cover that Stephen (virtualdoc07) mentioned earlier in this thread?
