The little boy next door when I was growing up would always come over when my dad was starting the lawn mower and ask him what he was doing. "Washin' the dishes, Charlie," he would calmly say. "Really?" was always the response he got from Charlie. That was 45 years ago and I still remember it.

Dad was like that. Never really smiled, cried, laughed, or seemed to get particularly angry most of the time. He was pretty good with the sarcasm, though.
