Adjusting Throttle Switch

The car is a 1975 MB 450 SL, and among other things, I think the throttle switch needs adjusting. The manual says to loosen the two 7mm bolts so that the switch can rotate on the throttle body shaft. Ha! Easier said than done! While the top bolt is easy to get to, the bottom is next to impossible. Has anyone done this? If so, how about some helpful hints, i.e., what is the ohmeter reading I am looking for? What are some other areas I should look at to solve the inability to slow the idle down. Also, has anyone had any experience with a Crane Cams XR-700 ignition conversion (replaces the stock transistorized ignition)?
