You can pull the fault codes either from the 8 pin connector LED or socket 19 of the 38 pin connector. The codes can also be cleared from either one. Try a search - there's lots of information on this, including the DM fault codes, in the archives.

A VMI from your dealer will tell you if it's a CA car.
