I'm still comparing the various units and their features and some things are a bit confusing. First of all, why the HUGE difference in cost between a 11900 BTU SANYO (cool only) at 16SEER at $1344.00 and the 12000 BTU Ambiance with 10SEER at $737.00
Both have SANYO compressors, the SANYO system does include some features like a built in condensate pump (which I don't need) and air ionizer (hmmm..). Sure it's efficient but, at damned near double the price, it would have to run for years to amortize the additional cost.
I'm leaning towards a 9k BTU Ambiance for the bathroom area and a 12000k BTU Ambiance for the living area.

At first glance the difference appears to be SEER rating. Not sure which state you live in but here in the PRofCA you can get rebatesthrough the utility companies for installing the higher seer rated equipment. It's the only way you'll even come close to recouping the extra expense in a reasonable amount of time. Does the ambiance unit heat as well?
