We had an exterminator out to the job mentioned because I've read that squirrels are tough to get rid of -- they don't go for the tried and true snap trap -- he said we only have rats. I had found a mummified squirrel pelt in the debris under the fiberglass bathtub. Lord what a pile of stuff. They were able to access it through the crawl space where the drain poked through a freeway sized hole (for squirrels and rats) in the subfloor. I covered that sucker with concrete board. Chew on that, ya buck toothed vermin.
Anywho, the exterminator said one reason squirrels were so tough to get rid of is that they rarely eat human type garbage and certainly not sewage, like rats. He said you can eat a squirrel whereas you'd have to be a starving resident in some Siberian prison to eat a rat.
