I still don't know the answer to my original question. I just swapped in a cable from a parts car that was pre-lubed. But I think you should use that gleitpaste you have on it, as long as you have an adequate supply. Do not use lithium. The cable "bearings" are made of nylon, sliding in the steel tube. Seems like the MB slippery stuff is the ticket.
