What's with the oil pump chain on the 617 turbo at 300,000 miles? Is it actually the chain, or the tensioning spring & guide that goes? I've replaced everything on my engine that's timing chain related except the gears & the oil pump chain. How can such a short chain with such little load on it fail?
I felt it was a waste to replace the big chain but did it anyway. It hardy had any stretch after 290,000 miles. Paul.
