I still think it would have to be pretty much perfect to bring $5K. I would start with $5K and subtract the cost of everything that needs to be fixed. I would guess that you will end up in the $3-4K ballpark.

I paid about $3K for my wife's 240D (200K miles) with a 9/10 interior and exterior. All it needed was a AC seal leak fixed and recharge (about $500) and a few little nits. It will probably cost me another $2K to make the body/paint perfect (just a couple of very minor parking lot dings I haven't gotten around to yet).

If you pay $5K, you will be into it for about $6-7K by the time you get it perfect.
