1984 300D

I posted in tech help- but im desperate- leaving tonight for weekend and the sunroof crapped out- it moves 1" but refuses to close- there is a grinding sound that is felt in the sheet metal of the vehicle. the sunroof will not move forward into closed position-no matter how hard I coerce it.

Flashlight inspection revealed nothing significant.

Any and all help is appreciated.
