Communism didn't collapse under anyones or anythings shortcommings,It was direct result of Gorbachov's perestroika followed by a take over of the Russian Government by Boris Yeltsin.
The same people who ran Russia under the Soviet System are still there ,especially Vladimir Putin.
Communism is working well in China ,in case you had forgotten.
Americans always confuse communism as expounded by Marx and Engles with Stalinist ( and Now Bu****e) totalitarianism.
In Israel ,the same philosphy of communal living by the kibbutzim was Lauded by the same people who decried communism in other countries,(e.g. Cuba) a further example of the mushroom philosphy of American Politics.
