What gets me is focusing the onus on the Mom,she may indeed be all you claim,in which case { I know hindsight sucks} but wasn't there anyone in whom she could have confided in who could give her some help?
She was 19 and probably in a very screwed up place so there must have been some symbiotic cord that prevented the 19 year old from leaving.
My condolences,lost a cousin in similar circumstances.

ashley wanted to leave her mother, she has run away before from her..her mother was controlling... she couldnt get a job to get money to leave because her mom wouldnt let her, my uncle couldnt afford to get her out because he is having money issues,
