Oh my God...I didn't expect to see anything like this on here today!

Don, this is terrible and I'm sorry to hear about it. I hope you will be able to come to peace with what has happened someday...I've never experienced anything like this and can only imagine what it must be like.

Police in general are very well-trained in this country, but they are known to lack training when it comes to dealing with the mentally ill. I don't know much about your cousin but it seems pretty clear she wasn't in her right mind.

Certainly questions are raised by this story but I don't feel like it's fair for me to speculate on what could or should have happened, given that we have an incomplete picture of the facts here. I do feel bad for the officers involved as well as Ashley's family. No matter what they did right or wrong they will never forget this incident. It just goes to show that when that very important split second arises, you better make the right decision.

In any event one thing we do know is that there are no winners here. Again, I wish you the best, and I wish there was something more meaningful I could say.
