Have a similar problem with a 2001 SLK 320. Dealer ordered a sensor part for it, so hope that takes care of it. Looking through other areas on this site, I saw that certain MB engines have a recurring problem with what's called a Crank Position Sensor. I believe that is the part my dealer ordered.
