That same part failed in my beater 300SD but the car wouldn't go at all. I Rube Goleberged it back together with a piece of solid copper wire I had in the car. I had a spare part because the one in my good 300SD looked old and cracked so I replaced it. I bought that part at dealer a long time ago and it wasn't even close to $61.

I wonder if contact cement would hold the broken part together.
